Linguist Mario Abelend is a naturalized U.S. citizen, of Spanish and French ancestry. He was born in Havana, Cuba in 1949. He is catholic. He is happily married to Yandy G. Abelend, a Philippine-born U.S. citizen, who is the Company's Vice President. He is a native speaker of Spanish, fluent in European, Cuban and standard Latin American Spanish, and has near-native fluency in English, French, and Portuguese. Mr. Abelend has over 30 years of experience as a professional translator and over 20 years as a professional interpreter. He is a Life/Active Member of the American Translators Association (ATA), and a member of ATA's French-Language, Portuguese-Language, Spanish-Language, Interpreters', and Translation-Company Divisions. |
